COPYCATT‘s long-awaited debut US tour was met with raucous and fervent crowds. His sets are currently punctuated by an unbelievable neuro hop flip of the Kim Possible theme song, which is quite possibly this writer’s favorite unreleased tune.
On Friday, November 3rd, COPYCATT headlines a night of incredible distorted bass music at Tangent Gallery in Detroit. The debut collaboration from Further Frequencies and Mountain High Collective features a stacked support lineup of Audio Goblin, Stimpack, Kilo, and Eve. The event features two rooms of music, live art, vendors, and the best community for underground bass in Michigan. ADub Sound Service, powered by BassBoss, is on sound duty and routinely delivers one of the premier sound experiences in the Midwest.
COPYCATT is legendary in neurohop circles. Releasing fun remixes of artists like Beyonce and MF DOOM, COPYCATT combines familiar melodies with gut-punching neurobass leaning heavily into distorted basslines and funky rhythms. His cover art is usually snippets of his Ableton workspace, adding to the enigmatic nature of the project.
Audio Goblin, based out of bass haven Asheville, North Carolina, was on a warpath in 2023. He graced the sound systems at Infrasound Equinox and Fire Lights Music Festival, among other shows opening up for legends like Somatoast. His heavily distorted, deep, psychedelic sound is perfect for the vibe of Tangent Gallery.
Stimpack’s 2023 album Boundless is a great snapshot of the project, showcasing deep, distorted basslines employing long sustained synths to suck listeners in. His sound is perfect for the BassBoss sound system.
Tickets for Friday’s event can be purchased here, you won’t want to miss this one Michigan!
