Father Figure is an electronic production duo out of Kingston, NY, whose project started in 2017. Since then, they’ve been opening for some of the biggest names in the landscape, including but not limited to CloZee, Of The Trees, Manic Focus, Tripp St, Maddy O’Neal, and Marvel Years.
Influenced equally by the jam scene as well as the golden era of hip-hop, producers like J Dilla, Pete Rock, and DJ Premier. Today, they’ve returned with a brand new house single, titled “I Put A Spell On You.” The sonic collage is a reimagining of the Halloween classic by Annie Lennox.
“I put a spell on you, because you are mine” the track boasts, as the saxophone over a house beat draws closer and closer. Low-end wubs eventually fuel that fire keeping the listener engaged, moving, and grooving. This soulful new four-on-the-floor tune from Father Figure is a testament to their anthem-making prowess.
It’s always just stellar seeing an artist, in this case artist duo, fuse the sounds of both old and new. That’s exactly what we get here from Father Figure and their new house effort “I Put A Spell On You.”
