illoh unravels the mysteries of consciousness with his latest self-released four-track EP. Transporting free-form bass fans on a journey of whimsical expansions, “The Air We Breathe” EP is a boundless masterpiece.

Alec Hollingsworth, the Denver-based talent known as illoh, has a flair for low-frequency enchanting beat-making. His new release includes four soothing tracks that feel like a massage for your brain. Growing up playing bass guitar in front of his amplifier, Hollingsworth thrives on the low ends to drive his tunes with the addition of melodic features creating a unique world of sound in each release. illoh has even incorporated his own bass guitar playing into his music where he nods to alternative R&B and hip-hop being elements of his production.

The title track, “The Air We Breathe” is a breath of fresh air setting the tone for the rest of the EP. This deep dub beauty shifts our minds into a state of tranquility. Here’s what illoh had to say about “The Air We Breathe”

“This track was made while contemplating the nature of the world around us, specifically, the elements of our society and social norms that we accept without a second thought. Even though we had no part in their development, we accept them as they are. Certain ideas and societal norms have become so ubiquitous, they might as well be the air we breathe.”  – illoh

The next two songs, “Mindstate” and “Gala” are more upbeat and experimental but continue to drive us into a state of deep thinking, following the odyssey of this particular work of art.

The EP ends with “Honesty” which tickles the spine with drum patterns and signature illoh basslines hitting throughout.
