Freddy Todd Dazzles With Memory Palace Debut “Shadow Of A Torch”

Bass music icon Freddy Todd delivers a distorted, psychedelic masterpiece with “Shadow Of A Torch.” This tune is the lead single for his upcoming album on Memory Palace, the brainchild of Todd’s longtime friend and BLAAP teammate Of The Trees. Given his relationship with Of The Trees and sonic cohesion with other Memory Palace releases, Freddy Todd’s LP is a perfect fit for the imprint. Wild, funky basslines and lush sonic textures are staples of Freddy Todd’s discography, and “Shadow Of A Torch” is a powerful tone-setter for his upcoming album.

The track begins with a funky synth lead, beautiful atmosphere, and vocal chops before giving way to a glitchy, distorted bassline. “Shadow Of A Torch” is a high-energy tune that’ll be a crowd favorite in Todd’s sets. His next set is as the special guest for Esseks‘ headline performance at Cervantes in Denver this Saturday, February third. We anticipate his appearance on numerous festival lineups this Summer alongside the release of his album.

Memory Palace built a great reputation in a relatively short period. The label showcase, headlined by Of The Trees himself, with support from Barclay Crenshaw, Yheti, Kll Smth, and The Librarian, sold out the iconic Red Rocks venue in November, with some claiming it was the Red Rocks show of the year. The label has proven the consistency of its releases as well, and 2024 looks like a serious breakout year for the imprint.
