The Librarian is back with a new double-sided single “miss u“. This legend has made her mark on the bass scene through her classical training, producing a wide variety of sub-genres, and spearheading the legendary Bass Coast music and art festival. She has played the notorious Boiler Room in 2019 and has performed at such highly regarded festivals as Coachella, Symbiosis, Lightning in a Bottle, and Shambhala.
This newest installment in her library is a double-sided single that includes tracks “miss u” and “Howe Sound“. They preceded a soon-to-be-released EP titled “miss u“. Here’s what the Librarian had to say about the project:
“Miss u EP is an ode to the rave, to the dance floor, and to the wildly eccentric community of music lovers who were separated over the past two years. Composed in my basement studio at oddly early hours of the morning, the EP is a hopeful story intended for when we meet again surrounded by sound.” – The Librarian
The first track, “Howe Sound,” begins with a beautifully simplistic melody before the bass comes in to fill out the ringing void. A deep bassline encourages the song along while the trumpeting melody rings through. This effort is a special one for the Librarian, as it has close ties to her heart:
“Howe Sound is where I call home. I work and play on the traditional, ancestral and unceded Indigenous territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) people. It is where I learned to appreciate beauty in the colour grey. Mist floats up from the rainforest canopy painting pictures in the sky. Winters are dark and cool but when you embrace the wet environment it is powerful and moving. The first single captures the mood of winters in Howe Sound.” – The Librarian
“miss u” starts off with a punchy club beat that melts with piano accents and dreamy synths. It has a calm energy that both relaxes and invigorates. If the first track set the fire, this one saw the flames dance. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the EP has in store!
