Heard It Here First

ENiGMA Dubz is an artist of many talents, creating soulful frequencies, to bone-rattling ones that shake systems and ignite any dance floor they grace. The UK-based tastemaker has matured amidst OG sounds that shaped and propelled him toward becoming the creator he is today, subsequently influencing countless others who followed in his footsteps.

Having such a keen sense for sound, ENiGMA Dubz has continued to level up year after year, pushing out an array of genres, which in turn, helped in the birth of his side project, Itona, and music label, Morii Records. While the ENiGMA Dubz project has had more melodic sides in the past, it felt like this project and platform, allowed him more creative space to tap into different emotional sides of his creativity.

Last year, he put out his #Heaters mixtape, which featured mind-blowing collaborations with some of the baddest producers in the dubstep scene, including Bommer, MYTHM, Hypho, and many more. (The release also hit #1 on Beatport charts, big ups!!)

Now, ENiGMA Dubz is back with his latest mixtape, but this time, switching up the vibe. Last month, he kicked things off with the lead single “I Still Think Of You“ feat Leo Wood, and it certainly set the tone for what was coming next.

#Vibes has finally landed, and on his own imprint nonetheless, which only makes sense with the beautiful music coming out of it. These gorgeous, soulful, melodic tunes make you sit back, think, and feel. There’s something truly special about getting this softer side to the ENiGMA Dubz project, it’s like an intimate peek into different sides of his soul. Here’s what he had to say:

Writing vibey music is where I can fully escape into a world of my own. My music is very emotionally driven, so this mixtape is there to take listeners deep into my creative headspace and the feelings within.

Music is a powerful thing, it can bring us back to places that are hard to describe but can be felt and remembered again through sound. That’s how it feels listening to the #Vibes mixtape, it transports listeners to memories and feelings that touch our souls and also takes us to new places that make us feel alive.

To be honest, this feeling and vibe is always there. I almost have several personalities when it comes to creativity. I tap into the darker side when I want to make something bass heavy to go off in sets, and then I’ve got the more melodic and soulful side, which also serves as music therapy for me, too. 

Making the tracks for the #Vibes mixtape was very refreshing, and I also really enjoy playing these tunes out in my extended sets, where I take people through different moods and emotions. – ENIGMA DUBZ

With this release, he’s hoping his listeners can just vibe out and be taken on a journey, sharing these sounds with loved ones and enjoy getting lost in the music found within. That’s pretty easy to do when the sounds on the mixtape are as clear and powerful as they are. When asked his favorite thing about getting to tap into so many different sides with this mixtape, he had this to say:

It allows me to stay fresh and fully express myself. From day one of the ENiGMA Dubz project, I’ve never shied away from expressing myself to the full, so I’m grateful I’ve got such a dope fan base who are open to the detours and changes in mood and feel.

The #Vibes mixtape showcases softer sounds and vocals from Leo Wood and Lauren L’aimant, that add even more texture to the gorgeous layers of soundscapes on the release. There’s always something special and intimate when listeners get these more melodic leaning rollouts, and #Vibes is a testament to just that.
