At long last, California producer Ooga gives fans one of his most-requested IDs. “Oogarage/Sports” is a masterpiece of a two-track EP, combining incredible groove and danceability with iconic basslines, crisp sound design, and a penchant for funk.

Ooga is one of bass music’s brightest rising stars, carving a sonic niche filled with funk, crisp neuro sound design, and moments of unbridled fun that translate so well to his live performances. His set from Rendezvous Suwannee was a fan favorite and garnered widespread attention following its release on Soundcloud. Since the start of 2023, he’s crushed the festival and touring circuit, appearing at Infrasound, Rendezvous Suwannee, The Untz, Ohm On The Range, and more. His sets are must-sees for any bass or funky music fan, and his tunes are instantly recognizable even in other DJ’s sets for their elite combination of funk and impressive neuro sound design.

“Oogarage/Sports'”‘ first track, “Oogarage,” became an instant hit upon its live debut, and fans have been clamoring for its release ever since. The almost cartoonish lead sample is one of the most iconic builds and pre-drop samples in recent memory. The track’s first drop is smooth and minimal, flirting with flittering neuro stabs. The bassline in the track’s next section is undeniably both funky and dirty. The heavy-yet-smooth distortion and siren-like tone call everyone on the dancefloor to “MOVE!” Crowds’ erupt into a frenzy upon hearing this section of the tune; the energy and burning desire to give in to the dance becomes contagious.

Sports,” the headier B-side of this EP, flexes Ooga’s sound design and songwriting skills. The crunchy bass stabs paired with softer guitar strums create a complex sonic palette, crafting a track perfect for a dark nightclub and lying in a hammock. Every listen to this track offers a unique different experience.

There are few artists we’re watching as closely as Ooga. It’s only a matter of time before he’s busting out his crazy dance moves during his sets on even bigger and bigger states.
