2024 has taught us that there ain’t no party like an ONHELL party. The eclectic producer started throwing eccentric “bicurious parties” to reshape modern bass music dancefloors, promoting the same inclusivity seen in traditional house and techno spaces. These parties employ moodier lighting, bring in pole dancers and other erotic performers, and even have salsa stations. ONHELL’s debut Deadbeats EP “juntos” perfectly captures the crazy dancefloor energy from his parties. His multi-genre stylings show through on this EP while delivering the signature low-end sound he’s become known for.
The Beats
“Foge” with Brazilian vocalist KARAN! kicks off the EP with authority. ONHELL combines his signature grime flare with baile funk to create a dancefloor weapon. KARAN!’s Brazillian vocals perfectly complement the beat. ONHELL tapped fellow rising star Chef Boyarbeatz for “Grime On Steroids,” an absolute smasher of a tune. Big, distorted bass stabs carry the load on this track, making it perfect for dimly lit dancefloors with massive sound.
“Dubstep For Kids” is as unserious as it gets for a dubstep record, reminding listeners to just have fun on the dancefloor. This track sounds like a combination of “Old MacDonald Had A Farm” and classic UK dubstep. Lastly, “Floating On Louds” with Mad Zach is a deep, brooding halftime record that perfectly closes out the EP with a distorted bassline and floating, airy lead synths.
The Parties
ONHELL threw his first parties in Los Angeles before recently expanding to Denver, Portland, and New York. He tapped some of the scene’s biggest rising stars to perform, including Kurei, Thelem, Chef Boyarbeatz, Hypho, Eastghost, Gaszia, and many more. ONHELL had an incredible run of festivals this year, including Sound Haven, Shambhala, and Symmetry over the Summer, with DoomTown coming up in October. His sets are a booty-shaking good time as he rinses mostly his own beats and remixes, lighting up dancefloors across the country and globe.
