Hostage Situation just released the single “Burn For You,” offering a glimpse into their upcoming album, “Hostile Frequencies,” set to release on October 2nd, 2025. This new project is set to catapult the group from just being the exciting new kids on the block. The track itself is a contemporary dubstep banger, intermingling electric energy with brain-tickling sounds.

Hostage Situation is a trio of DJs based in Denver, taking their name from their innate ability to hold a crowd hostage with their melodic and emotional build-ups paired with their signature dynamic dubstep and nasty riddim basslines. The group, formed in the summer of 2021, is composed of Devin Zechiel, Grant Markstein, and Nate Ball, and has quickly gained notoriety in the local Denver dubstep scene. 

Even though they are a relatively new group, Hostage Situation has already collaborated with more established dubstep artists like GorillaT, Brondo, Xotix, Jason Leech, and Mport. If you’re looking to get familiar with their heavy soundscapes, be sure to listen to their remix of “OUT THE CAR” by SWANDO, “Bite Your Tongue” with Bucky Boudreau, and “Crashing.”  Those are our top recommendations.

After headlining many iconic venues in Denver, including Meow Wolf, The Black Box, and The Gothic Theatre, as well as larger festivals like Decadance, Forbidden Kingdom, and Global Dance, the announcement of their new album marks a new chapter in their journey.

“Burn For You” begins with an intense feeling of anticipation. As the simplistic intro notes become layered with vocals, the excitement builds up higher and higher. When the energetic bassline finally kicks in, the song sends listeners into a state of headbanging enchantment. This song is perfect to unleash all that pent-up energy and lose yourself in a bass frenzy, whether after a workout, a long day on the job, or just to get you hyped up.

As the track continues, listeners are gripped by the ever-present energy as well as melancholy sounds that send tingling down the spine. Lyrics that speak to everlasting love, coupled with melodic interludes, create deep emotional levels that we love to see within the dubstep genre. This soul-gripping tune will be blasted in small clubs and large festivals alike all summer long and will certainly generate buzz for Hostage Situation’s forthcoming debut album release.
