This man needs no introduction. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you already know that GRiZ—the master of future funk—has officially returned from his hiatus. After stepping back from touring and social media for nearly two years, his long-awaited comeback began with the live debut of his self-curated Seven Stars Music Festival. Since then, fans have watched closely as he has slowly begun releasing the music he produced during his time away. The entire bass community has been holding its breath, patiently (and not so patiently) waiting to see who GRiZ would collaborate with now that so many new stars have risen during his absence.

Well, the wait is over. GRiZ has stepped back into the studio with none other than Tape B—one of the scene’s fastest-rising forces. Tape B has been on an absolutely explosive run: a massive headline tour, a sold-out Red Rocks debut, nonstop festival appearances, and a relentless stream of original tracks and collaborations that somehow keep topping the last. Pairing that momentum with GRiZ’s legendary sound is the exact kind of moment fans have been manifesting for years.

Their new collaboration delivers everything you’d hope for and more. The track is a perfect blend of the dirty experimental bass sound that Tape B has become famous for lining his tracks with, matched with GRiZ’s unmistakable synths, bouncing off each other in perfect synergy.  CREG—who many fans will recognize from past “Bust” off GRiZ’s SideQuest Vol. 1 Mixtape —ties the entire piece together with slick vocals that elevate the track to another level.

When prepping this article, we couldn’t help but feel that spark the moment we heard, “GRiZ, yeah, show ’em how it’s done!”

The world is as it should be.  GRiZ is back. Seven Stars was a smash. Tape B is unstoppable. And if this collaboration is any indication, an absolutely massive wave of new music is on the horizon. What more could we ask for?

Stream “Light You Up” everywhere now and let us know your thoughts below. Keep an eye out for new music from GRiZ, too. He teased even more upcoming collabs at Seven Stars Festival, including team-ups with Effin, Levity, and Kaleena Zanders.
