Heard It Here First

Detox Unit is one of the few true kings of that crunchy, experimental, underground sound we love so much here at HIHF. Today he’s valiantly returning to his fanbase like a knight in shining armor, or maybe more like freight train through a brick wall.

For his first EP release in three years, the producer/DJ/craftsman is bringing fans “Schematic.” Following the release of the heavy-hitting single “Detonator,” today marks the release of the rest of the EP, three more sonic offerings from the production maestro.

His multi-layered, ground-breaking production shines on the introductory “Low Visibility” welcoming us into the world of “Schematic.” Next is the familiar Detonator, reminiscent of the previously mentioned off-the-rails freight train. This track is an absolute weapon.

Then we’ve got “Big Mood,” a serious contender for favorite off the EP. It flexes Detox’s more melodic and groovy stylistic capabilities. Although just as low-end and floor-shattering as the last two tracks, “Big Mood” has an infectious hypnotism to it that makes it stand out from the pack.

“Equidistant” brings the sense of uneasiness and eeriness back to the forefront, turning the EP up a level. This final track is sure to make you wiggle, touting heavy hitting bass, sharp synths, and crisp drums. All things that Detox Unit crafts to tee.

Continuing a long-standing tradition with his fanbase, Detox Unit will release an additional Bandcamp and SoundCloud-exclusive bonus track, his remix of Ludacris‘ hip-hop classic “The Potion,” available only through those platforms as a thank-you to his fan community.

Coming up, Detox Unit has performances at major festivals around the country like Secret Dreams in Ohio, Nocturnal Valley in Missouri, Wakaan Fest in Arkansas, and Eternal NYE Orlando to close out the year. His live sets are well-known to be both rowdy and awe-inspiring, often formed in collaboration with the scene’s premiere visual artists.
