Gl0bal is a DJ phenom based out of Kelowna, Canada. The up and comer has appeared on both Flux Pavilion’s Circus Records and Excision’s Subsidia Records over the past few months and today he is linking with Circus Records for yet another edition of his Insomnia EP!
Showcasing a wide range of electronic stylings across genre lines within his work, this up-and-coming artist is continuing his upwards trajectory in the world of bass music.
We had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Gl0bal to talk about his new Insomnia 3 EP as well as working with the legendary Circus Records.
On the new project, Gl0bal recruited both So Sus and Burgess, and all four songs were absolute bops. Check Insomnia 3 out down below and be sure to support Gl0bal’s new EP today! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Who are a few of your biggest musical inspirations within electronic music?
To name a few, old Flosstradamus stuff, Skrillex, Excision, Martin Garrix, and Avicii.
What about inspirations outside of the electronic genre?
My inspirations outside of electronic music have to be hip hop. I am a hiphop head first and foremost and I am always inspired by hip hop. Some artists that inspire me outside of electronic are Drake, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Chief Keef, Pop Smoke and Lil Baby. I usually have those artists on repeat.
Dream festival or venue to play?
I’d have to say my dream festival to play would be Tomorrowland.
Who are you listening to right now?
Right now, I’ve been listening to a fair amount of Jack Harlow, his new stuff has been killer.
How’d you link up with Circus Records? What’s it like working with such influential artists like Doctor P and Flux Pavilion?
I linked up with Circus Records 3 years ago after sending them a few demos and honing my sound more. The A&R team took a chance on me and here we are with my 3rd EP going strong and all I could ask for was a chance to showcase my skills.
The team over at Circus is great, they believe in the vision that I have for my music. Working with such influential artists is pretty cool because it’s a constant reminder of how much more work needs to be done to truly get to that next level.
What about working with Excision’s Subsidia label? You’ve released with them multiple times since their launch last year.
The Subisdia releases were super cool, their fans are engaging and with Excision trusting in my sound the releases just made sense. Working with them was great for those two releases and the support they provide is incredible.
What do you want fans to know about this new project?
I want the fans to know that I am continuing to grow and that this new project is another chapter of what my sound is becoming and I hope they enjoy all of the elements that I put together in this project!
What’s one unique hobby you have that a fan wouldn’t know about you unless they asked?
Unique hobby, that’s a good one. I am pretty killer at chess 🙂
Thanks so much to Gl0bal for sitting down and chatting with us and we hope you enjoy their new EP, out now through Circus!
