Bass trio Xotix is back with more massive beats on their most recent work “The Boiz“. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, this self-proclaimed “bass music boy band” has been gaining serious momentum recently. They have nailed collabs with MeSo‘s collective Spicy Bois, slayed a remix for Wreckno, and even landed this most recent release on Dirt Monkey‘s 19K label. This past weekend they opened for Shlump in San Francisco and absolutely killed it!
This whole work has a distinctly west coast bass vibe, which is consistent with their signature sound. It features collabs with blurrd vzn and Niko Otis. All four tracks cohesively progress from one to the next, resulting in a hefty EP that just doesn’t quit.
The title track, “The Boiz,” begins with an ominous air, progressing to a heavy, glitchy melody. It moves with cool ease, exactly what you want when getting down on the dance floor. “Run It Up,” another bouncy bass banger, features slow and purposeful builds that break down into gooey bass goodness. “Damn” continues on this vibe, wiggling and wobbling through listeners’ ears.
The last track, “Pressed,” is Xotix’s collab with blurrd vzn and Niko Otis. This one rounds out the massive work with a slightly chiller vibe, without skimping on the bass. This new EP is a huge one for Xotix and we can’t wait to hear it bumping on a proper sound system!
