Preston Charles, better known by his stage name SubDocta, has been rapidly on the rise in the electronic music world since 2017 and the release of the debut single “2009 Was Tight.”  A year later, he released “Skeleton Key” and a remix of Dirt Monkey‘s “Lift Off.” He is known for his unique sound of dubstep and hybrid varieties he has dubbed his “West Coast Wobble” style.

With multiple Bassrush releases, two EPs released on Subcarbon, and two EPs and multiple singles on Wakaan, SubDocta has a track record of working with the hottest labels in the bass world. He has performed alongside huge names including Excision, Boogie T, Dirt Monkey, Riot Ten, and Ganja White Night. On top of that, SubDocta has graced the stages of the biggest festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, and Electric Forest.

To start off 2022 with major heat, SubDocta will be releasing new music every month and starting in January, his Strictly Business Tour kicks off with support from sfam, Abelation, and Zingara. 

Today, SubDocta brings us his first single off his upcoming 2022 LP, “Scepter” through Wakaan, in support of his upcoming Strictly Business Tour. Starting off slow with experimental lines, and shadowing drums start off the track, leading into the experimental and isolating drum and bass beats to get you moving. This one will have you running through the wall!

During 2020 I challenged myself to write music that didn’t sound like a typical SubDocta tune. I ended up with some really fun experiments and this song was born. It took me six months to do it, but I am happy with the emotion conveyed throughout the song. Hope you enjoy. <3″
