After nearly a year-long wait, trap prodigy Gurf is back with an elegant and intricate color bass tune “Off the Top”. Partica Artist Group, the artist collective that Gurf began in 2019 with fellow trap artist and close friend Runnit, has led the way in hybrid trap stylings, and this dancefloor anthem is no exception. His first release since the 2020 track “Ay Chica”, it’s safe to say that Gurf is truly back in the game.
Gurf’s new single, “Off the Top,” is a complex tune that dances across the ears like a warm breeze of synths, drums, and basslines. A synth-led intro evokes a playful tone, leading us quickly into a complex and groovy drop incorporating intricate drum patterns and excellent depth to create an incredibly danceable bop.
The sound design is here immaculate, with not a single element out of place. The chords bounce and vibe in a gorgeous flow that demands the listener nod along at a minimum. Mixing elements of both hybrid trap and color bass, “Off The Top” blends the best of both styles and continues the development of an ever-expanding trend in the world of bass. This light-hearted track creates an undeniable groove and is sure to move feet in any venue it reaches.
Here’s what Gurf had to say about his newest work:
“I am really aiming to create an inviting atmosphere with my music. I want people to feel comfortable and confident to be themselves and indulge in what makes them happy. That’s what I hope to communicate through “Off The Top”” -Gurf
