Redrum has been taking the bass scene by storm and there’s certainly no stopping her as today she releases her new EP, “Chaos Theory” through WAKAAN. Her last EP, “Pieces Moon“, made its debut on WAKAAN’s downtempo sister label SWKAAN; it is a breathtakingly beautiful foray into ethereal soundscapes. She recently concluded a massive run on Liquid Stranger‘s “Balance” tour, having joined the team for the second leg. This weekend, she is set to deliver huge appearances in NoLa for Buku Festival, going B2B with Cannabliss not once, but twice at two separate afterparty shows.
This four-track work is comprised of tantalizing titles: “Chaos Theory“, “Paradigm Shift“, “Twilight“, and “Idiosyncrasy“. The final track was the lead single from this smashing EP, you can read about our thoughts on it here! This track was so striking that it caught the eyes of the notorious UKF Dubstep, who uploaded it to their YouTube channel.
The whole EP is a masterfully crafted compilation. It features organic sounds blended with powerful basslines in new and creative ways that tantalize eardrums and stimulate the senses. The title track “Chaos Theory” is slow and melodic, showcasing a vast soundscape. We then bleed into “Paradigm Shift” which kicks things up a notch; it marches along slow and purposefully with a plethora of stylistic elements peppered throughout. “Twilight” features more of a hip-hop-influenced beat that is infectious in its own right and sure to light up any dancefloor. The collection concludes with the cataclysmic track “Idiosyncrasy” to round out this monstrous body of work.
