Sound design wizards TVBOO and Runnit have teamed up once again to bring fans a brand new, experimental trap banger titled “Drop Top”.
Mississippi-based, PBR-loving TVBOO has gained quite the following over the last couple of years. Whether it’s been supporting Liquid Stranger‘s recent bus tour, producing music that continues to push boundaries, or chatting it up with producers and other industry professionals on his “TVLKS with TVBOO” podcast, TVBOO always finds a way to connect with his audience in a meaningful and unique way. His recent releases include a collab on SubDocta‘s debut album, the third installment of his “Stuff Me” mix series, as well as his “Right Field Bass” EP that dropped on Wakaan. He even released a comedy album this past December titled “Songs Your Wife Leaves You To”. As festival season starts to get under way, expect to see TVBOO’s name added to more and more lineups.
Baltimore-based producer and Partica Artist Group dad, Runnit, has been meshing the sounds of bass music, rap, and trap for years. Runnit created his own unique flavor that hits your ear drums from every angle. With each release, I am constantly asking myself: “How in the world does he even think of this stuff??” Having collaborated with forward-thinking producers such as fellow Partica co-chief Gurf, bd hbt, M.E. SWANK, Shanghai Doom and others, there are truly no limits to where this talented producer’s sound can go. Runnit even had opportunities to showcase his skills last year at huge festivals such as Lost Lands and Elements, and even put out his own sample pack via Partica. With the release of this latest collab, it’s clear that Runnit is looking to make some major moves in 2022.
“Drop Top” is the third collab between TVBOO and Runnit, the first two being “Clear” and “Swervin” featuring rapper Dexter Fizz. The two masterminds waste no time with this one, immediately launching us into a true showcase of these producers’ arsenals of sounds. It’s amazing to hear how Runnit’s trap roots and TVBOO’s unusually satisfying bass mesh together so well, while also giving each artist their own space to express themselves. With glitchy plucks, wet bass sounds and intrinsically designed vocal samples, fans will walk away from this one not knowing what hit them. Expect this track to light up dance floors everywhere this year.
“By far my favorite collaboration with Runnit to date, ‘Drop Top’ is a perfect blend of our signature styles. Mixing his original trap roots with my goofy, experimental bass sound, this song makes me feel more hyped every time I listen to it!” – TVBOO
