CHOMPPA has made a name for himself in the bass music scene with his passion for the underground and his hard-hitting tunes that have brought powerful energy to dance floors across the country. He’s already played at huge festivals like Lollapalooza, Beyond Wonderland, Infrasound, and many more.

CHOMPPA has created a signature sound that blends his classical training with a variety of other electronic musical influences. He came out swinging with his debut EP Flabbergast, which was released through Zeds Dead’s label Deadbeats. His latest release, The System, is now out through the well-established underground bass label Street Ritual.

The EP’s title track, “The System,” starts off with a dark, eerie intro. CHOMPPA uses some classic deep dubstep atmospheres combined with heavy sound design. The powerful basses contrast really well with his more melodic and ethereal breakdowns. He switches things up in the second section with an acid bass arp and UK garage influences.

“Dat Boi,” the second track from the EP, has full, powerful drums and a driving distorted bassline. He has a minimal approach here but leaves a strong impact on the listener. The artist pulls a story together with the addition of a vintage voice recording, it’s a very nice touch. The whole track has a dark, ominous feel that definitely expands the producer’s sound and brings his style into new territory.

“Synchronicity,” the last track off the EP, has a gritty, bending lead bass and innovative sound design. The fills and turnarounds are really unique and keep the listener tuned in. The breakdown is melodic and a lot softer, but quickly builds back into the second section. This song packs in a lot of energy that balances well with the more atmospheric parts of the tune.
