Hamdi is a name that must be on your radar in 2023. His viral bass hit “Skanka” was arguably the biggest track of 2022 and he has finally entered the U.S. for a massive cavalcade of tour stops. To kick off his time in America, the U.K. producer performed at one of the hottest venues in the states, and certainly the hottest in the nation’s capital.

The Gradient Perspective, Para Presents, and Closed Sessions have brought some EPIC shows to D.C.’s Club Flash over the past few years, ranging from names like Ternion Sound to VCTRE to Koan Sound. On April 6th, they brought even more fire names out, like Hamdi, Jon Casey, Hypho, Wraz, and tons more to Flash for an immersive night of sound system-friendly bass music.

This show stopping set wasn’t just Hamdi’s first performance in the U.S, but his first day EVER stepping foot in the U.S. Not only that but hours after his 1am performance, he had to hop on a plane to go to California for more tour stops.

Starting the night off in the main room was Togeki, Retchs, and Gradient Perspective legend Sketchy Pete. Each of these three artists brought the heat to the Funktion one sound system that envelops Flash’s mainstage.

Upstairs hosted favorites of TRUTH‘s Deep Dark and Dangerous label, deep dubstep producers Hypho and Wraz. This marked each of their first appearances at Flash and they pulled a massive crowd for Flash’s rooftop stage.

Jon Casey brought immeasurable energy to his set. He was the perfect vibe to get us warmed up for Hamdi’s U.S. debut. Dropping tons of Jon Casey IDs, loads of tunes from Skrillex‘s Quest From Fire album, and even Lil Uzi Vert‘s viral “I Just Wanna Rock”, Casey had the crowd in absolute shambles. His stage presence is infectious, you can just tell he’s having a blast selecting tunes for the masses up there. You also really had to keep reminding yourself he wasn’t actually the headliner, it’s easy to forget watching this man turn up!

When Hamdi came on, the crowd went wild! Not only is he known for his stellar DJing skills, but there are a ton of Hamdi IDs being played out by the dubstep community, across the country, that were dropped during his set. The energy in the room was palpable. You could cut through it with a knife. It was so great to see massive grins and “WTF” level bass faces across the grin of everyone in attendance, especially for Hamdi’s first-ever U.S. performance.

This throwdown with Hamdi and Jon Casey was really a hell of a night. Were you able to catch this absolutely packed rave at Flash? Let us know down below in the comments who else was there and we hope to see you at the next one!
