Heard It Here First

In a wave of melodic bass mastery, AVELLO and CRVNTIS declare that summertime has commenced with the release of their new single, “Coast”, with Anna-Sophia Henry on vocals. This euphonious effort transcends the limits of AVELLO’s prior future bass experimentations by blending melodic riddim with a hint of “color bass”.

Last month, AVELLO flexed the bounds of his sound design, gracing the Circus Electric label with his single, “Never You” alongside collaborators, RENN and Kindred. Just as impressively, CRVNTIS’ March 2023 release, “Villain”, was featured on Excision’s Lost Lands Compilation 2022. These two bass maestros have certainly proved to be on their A-game this year and continue to carry this talent into the production of “Coast”.

Opening with harmonic synths and Anna-Sophia Henry’s layered vocals, “Coast” wastes no time in setting a blissful tone at the introduction. The intentional lyricism in this track alludes to the ocean, painting visceral imagery in the mind of listeners while simultaneously stimulating the auditory senses with an ethereal ensemble of big-room synths, drums, and vocalizations. At the first crescendo, AVELLO and CRVNTIS employ an ascension of atmospheric future bass while Anna-Sophia promises “with you I coast for life”.

Bringing the arrangement back around for two more verses, the trio contrasts the first portion of the track by delving into a world of melodic riddim. With a full-bodied balance of headbanger grit and main-stage melodies, “Coast” utilizes all of the contributors’ sonic specialties to merge elements of melodic bass with the foundation of a pop anthem.

“”Coast” uses simile to relate the ocean to the experience of love. The goal of this project was to capture an uplifting vibe and combine it with an aggressive yet euphoric drop. I feel that this release is a turning point in my sound design skills. I experimented a lot with the color bass / melodic riddim elements of the second and third drops, and I’m so pumped with how they turned out. Anna-Sophia really understood the vision that CRVNTIS and I had for the project. She took it to new heights with her top-line performance. Anna-Sophia’s writing and melodic flow absolutely blew me away when I heard the first demo! I knew in that moment this song was going to be really special. I had a great time working on this track, both CRVNTIS and Anna-Sophia are incredibly talented and down-to-earth people. I’m so excited to finally share “Coast”! “- AVELLO
