Few artists grabbed our attention more in 2024 than msft. The Italian producer follows up his impressive lowercasE EP and remix of Cyclops‘ festival anthem “Tear Jerker“ with his new club smasher“Bonker.s,” out now via NIGHTMODE.

The track combines a dark atmosphere, an eclectic groove, and a wicked bassline fit for low-light clubs with loud sound systems.

msft burst onto the scene in the last few years, finding himself at the forefront of the new wave of bass-centric garage and breaks. His EP lowercasE showcased a precise and cohesive audio palette and impressive songwriting. He employs frenetic basslines, chopped vocals, and crisp 2-step percussion. His arrangements are a remarkably fresh and refined take on the classic genre, appealing to both old and new fans.

His remix of “Tear Jerker” is an outstanding UKG arrangement of Cyclops’ signature tearout track, exposing garage to a demographic with little previous crossover.

“Bonker.s” begins with an ominous atmosphere accompanied by a police siren before a deep, brooding bassline and breakbeat take over. The track’s moody ambiance entrances listeners, painting a sinister, fervent soundscape with a pleasantly unsettling urgency rife for igniting the dancefloor.

A quick crescendo builds tension before the beat drops, and a powerful, sustained, warbling bassline dominates the soundscape. The bassline hits even harder after coming out of such a brooding, resilient intro. This track’s energy is infectious and should be a set staple from msft and other garage heavy-hitters as we press into 2025.
