One of the world’s favorite enigmatic producers of funky, filthy bass music, Jade Cicada, is finally back! Following the success of his recent December single, “Frame Shift,” Jade is returning to his rapidly growing fanbase with a brand new EP titled Lunar Fade.

This news also comes on the heels of the announcement of Jade Cicada’s highly anticipated 2025 Break The Hold tour, where he will be joined by some of the hottest names in bass music, like EPROM, Resonant Language, Cool Customer, and more for about a dozen nights of immersive audio and visual excellency.

The tour will be touching ground in Texas, San Fran, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Detroit, Boston, New Orleans, and taking him to iconic festivals like Electric Forest and Lightning in a Bottle. It will also feature gorgeous visual presentation and manipulation from his frequent collaborators, visual gurus Tenorless and LAIA.

Jade Cicada is well-known for pushing boundaries within his music. Whether he is crafting an uptempo funk-fueled anthem or a discrete, distinct low-pace soundscape, he is always moving the needle and taking listeners into new territories.

For the Lunar Fade EP, his first full-length release since his Pressure Gamut released on the first day of 2023, Jade is going full throttle. Utilizing his crisp and clean production skills, this project is a breath of fresh air, bringing in a refined pallet of whistful and hypnotic melodies. The EP’s beautiful artwork was designed by the multi-talented creator Dave Arcade.

The way that a Jade Cicada track sucks you in further and further, deeper and deeper, is what made us fall in love with his music in the first place, back in 2018. That is exactly what you get here with each next track you explore on the intergalactic expedition, Lunar Fade.

Here’s what Jade Cicada had to say about his newest work:

“Using a new DAW is a huge inspiration in and of itself. New tools bring new ways of thinking and working. I just try to follow where the sounds take me. The EP artwork is a reimagining of what my current studio looks like, surrounded by gear, screens, and speakers, and blasting off into space with cool sounds. My creative mindset was the same as it always has been: Does this feel new and fresh to me? Does this feel like a step forward in my production journey? If both those answers are yes, then it’s usually something I can feel proud of showing the world.” – Jade Cicada

The project opens with bouncing, bubbling beats to introduce the listener to the Lunar Fade journey ahead with the title track. Building up into a low-end smasher laced with heavy bass and intricate drums, the track “Lunar Fade” perfectly sets the tone for what is to come.

Next, we have “Goober Time,” an off-the-wall behemoth sure to get you making the weirdest stank faces you ever thought possible. One of the things I love about Jade Cicada and his music is how hypnotic and soothing it can be for heavy-hitting bass music. That’s exactly what we get here, entrancing the listener until they simply can’t help but to spastically move and groove.

Then we’ve got “Froggy Style.” This guttural goliath of a track is really everything we’ve come to expect from Jade, tracks that simply could not get filthier, deeper, or dirtier. This one is an absolute rollercoaster and CERTAIN to smack on the next sound system it’s played out on.
