Our society has widely used artificial intelligence as a tool for instantly accessing information, shaping how humans interact with technology. AI has begun imitating humans, allowing machines to create art, music, and more. But what if humans were to mimic AI? ENiGMA Dubz redefines the concept of fusing dubstep through the lens of artificial intelligence, as it learns how to produce music itself, showcased his recent EP with Deep, Dark, & Dangerous, titled Machine Learning.

This collection of tracks is not only an immersive soundscape experience but also an expansive journey through the digital realms of recreating AI. The EP sets the tone for ENiGMA Dubz’ current Machine Learning tour, which has stops throughout the U.S. and the U.K. The tour will end strong in London as ENiGMA Dubz plays alongside Caspa and Rusko, two legendary and iconic dubstep artists whose music set the stage for everything we do here at HIHF. Wrapping up his epic journey, he will perform in Manchester with Coki, another pioneer who helped shape dubstep’s early sound, even before Rusko and Caspa! This visionary new project from ENiGMA Dubz allows us to reimagine the concept of artificial intelligence as if we were to step into the machine itself.

The UK-based dubstep don is expanding the idea of artistic innovation, blurring the lines between artificial intelligence and electronic music. ENiGMA Dubz has captured widespread attention from bass music enthusiasts through curating a series of mixtapes, such as his #Vibes mixtape and #Heaters mixtape. These mixes include several collaborations with renowned global dubstep artists such as PAV4N, Hypho, Bommer, Wraz, and many more. The versatile mixes have significantly impacted ENiGMA Dubz’ project, showcasing his ability to dissolve the boundaries of electronic genres and merge diverse influences within his craft. Quickly becoming one of the most influential and exciting producers in the dubstep scene, ENiGMA Dubz has played at massive festivals such as Lost Lands, Rampage, and Infrasound Equinox. 

This fresh EP was promoted through a guest mix with TRUTH’s label, Deep, Dark & Dangerous, a homebass for forward thinking dubstep producers and foreshadowing the cinematic experience ahead. The DDD mix features the collection of Machine Learning EP tracks seamlessly mixed with edgy hip-hop vocals and deep, heavy-weighted bass lines. This sci-fi-inspired project gives us a taste of ENiGMA Dubz’ ability to produce timeless, cutting-edge 140 bpm music.

 “Writing this project has been one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s been a dream of mine to score a sci-fi film at some point, and with Machine Learning it’s like a soundtrack to the era we are all living in. With huge changes happening on a weekly basis, the future of music and art, in general, is both frightening and exciting, so I wanted to portray both sides of this through the EP.”  -ENiGMA Dubz

ENiGMA Dubz is ahead of the game, reminding us that AI technology has become a prevalent instrument in our society and culture. The Machine Learning EP emerges with a track titled “Week 1”, igniting his listeners to immerse in their thoughts about the vast machinery that AI has become. Featuring the four conceptual tracks, “Week 1”  through “Week 4,” ENiGMA Dubz cohesively connects each ‘week’ with atmospheric interludes. Emerging with deep, 140 bpm bass lines and melodic passages, we become encompassed in a cyber-inspired realm of dubstep. As the EP goes on, each track becomes more complex, delving into the consciousness of an AI entity. Closing with the track titled “Week 4,” we are greeted by the machine’s voice, inviting us into the grimy dubstep to come. With the EP’s rich narrative and reoccurring themes, the intersection between humanity and machinery is combined as one.

As artists are beginning to seek inspiration from artificial intelligence, the concept of blending dubstep with AI is becoming a fascinating frontier for electronic music production.
