Heard It Here First

The funky bass legend GRiZ has returned and flipped the bass music scene upside down with his newest four-track EP, GEMiNI! Hailing from Detroit and based in Denver, GRiZ has had an incredible career and impact in the electronic music scene over the past decade, with mind-blowing headlining performances at Electric Zoo, Electric Forest, Okeechobee, and tons more, alongside his own curated events, including Ursa Major, Triple Rainbow, and GRiZMAS in July.

In October 2023, GRiZ announced his hiatus from the music world, giving himself some time off from touring. His masterpiece of an album, Ouroboros, was his last official release which debuted at the beginning of his hiatus, giving fans the last taste of GRiZ’s boundary-pushing sound for who knew how long.

Today, we are graced with the man himself’s official return in the form of his new GEMiNI EP. The EP leads off with “Found Your Love,” which captures the essence of love with his classic saxophone progressions and soulful lyrics that evoke a feel-good energy that can be found in many of GRiZ’s tracks. The next show-stopper tune is “Take Me Home,” a collaboration with Grabbitz, which boasts his uplifting lyricism alongside GRiZ’s thundering and wonky bass, certain to be a huge track come festival season. These tracks both radiate GRiZ’s positivity to the dancefloor through a sound true to his style that fans know and love.

The next tune, “2-step Nassau,” is yet another certified party starter that will be sure to get you moving. It features his iconic serotonin-boosting tag “GRiZ, YEAH!,” which scratches one of many itches fans have shared in GRiZ’s absence. “Til The Color Fades” concludes the EP taking you on an other-worldly journey with a psychedelic melody and spacey synths. The latter half of the track brings in a bouncy and heavy bassline that takes this one to the next level.

The release of the GEMiNI EP was a wonderful surprise for thousands of unsuspecting GRiZ fans, along with the announcement of his newest three-day festival, Seven Stars! The event will be taking place in early October in Arrington, Virginia, the former site of long-time fan-favorite jam and bluegrass festival LOCK’N. It also sold out in literally two minutes, so we hope you got a ticket! GRiZ has crafted a spectacular lineup for his comeback festival, featuring some of the hottest acts in bass music including Subtronics, Tape B, Levity, Daily Bread, Of The Trees, alongside a slew of our favorite rising stars, including ALLEYCVT, Motifv, Know Good, Vyhara and dozens more.
