Surprise! GRiZ is back again and continuing his triumphant return, this time around calling on Flowdan for the track “Coast 2 Coast,” a filthy, trapped-out banger. This release is one of those tracks that would fit seamlessly into any live set due to its diabolical lyrics and core-shattering bassline. The ID may sound familiar, as it was once an elusive unreleased GRiZ ID that used Flowdan’s sample from Sammy Virji’s “Shella Verse.” That version of the track was popularized by massive bass performers like Subtronics, Tape B, Wooli, and Levity, utilizing the tune in their shows. “Coast 2 Coast,” on the other hand, is a 100% original creation using GRiZ’s cross-genre production prowess and Flowdan’s distinct lyrical stylings.
The Denver-based producer prioritizes funk and groove in both his live performances and his original music. Over the past decade, GRiZ has been one of the hottest names in bass music, returning from his extended hiatus with the announcement of Seven Stars Festival, a highly anticipated three-day festival in southern Virginia. Keeping the excitement going, GRiZ quickly released his GEMINI EP, SIDE QUEST VOL. 1 mixtape, a SoundCloud exclusive, and “Chaos Theory,” a collaboration with Wooli. These projects have tracks from a variety of genres, and “Coast 2 Coast” continues to show GRiZ’s omnigenre expertise. GRiZ’s comeback will culminate in his return to the stage at Seven Star’s Festival in Virginia, his Re:Connect curated shows in Chicago & Daly City, and the Lights All Night festival in Dallas.
Flowdan is a living legend, being both the first British MC to win a Grammy and one of the most recognizable features in contemporary dance music. His cavernous voice and hard-hitting lyrics are unmistakable and quick to make heads bounce. Flowdan has been featured on iconic electronic tracks like “Rumble” with Skrillex and Fred Again.., “Gassed Up” with Zeds Dead and Subtronics, “Baddadan” with Bou, Chase & Status, IRAH, Takura, and Trigga, and many more. Flowdan has made surprise appearances with DJs in the past, so cross your fingers and hope that you get to witness this grime MC perform “Coast 2 Coast” live.
GRiZ and Flowdan both added another hit to their already astonishingly jam-packed catalogs with “Coast 2 Coast”. Crafted with bouncy futuristic dubstep vibes and a bumpin’ UK grime attitude, this track is sure to be played everywhere from the smallest basement clubs to the largest festival mainstage. “Coast 2 Coast” is full of energy, taking listeners to a realm of bass-filled elation. The track is a masterful, funky, and heavy composition that exudes fun and confidence. It truly seems that whatever project both GRiZ and Flowdan touch becomes an instant classic, and we at Heard It Here First can’t wait to see what’s next.
