The title gives it all away. Crankdat(Christian Smith) finally released his Mechanized Mayhem EP, out now via Disciple. The EP contains 3 epic, bass-heavy tracks, one of which is “Blah Blah” and features NYC-based producer Ruvlo(Jonathan Rualo). Ruvlo has gained support from artists such as Excision, Alison Wonderland, and ZOMBOY for his take on experimental bass music with hard-hitting drums and intense mind-melting bass. It’s no wonder Crankdat is tapping an up and comer so exciting for his newest work.
My personal favorite track from the EP is the last one, “Pack A Punch”. It starts off with catchy vocals and a feel-good vibe but has a sharp transition to a dubstep buildup and headbanger-friendly drop with subtle rock influences.
Previously this year, Crankdat had released a track called “Who I Am”via Monstercat. It exemplifies his fluid bass sound and includes high-energy trap and hip-hop samples that come together for a hypnotic bass cut.
We’re excited to hear these new tracks, and the hopefully many more to come, during this coming festival season! Check out the Mechanized Mayhem EP from Crankdat below.
