At Heard It Here First, we continue to pride ourselves on putting the spotlight on smaller artists who have loads of superstar potential. Today’s release on Headbang Society was just that! We had the pleasure of premiering up-and-coming bass producer Yoko‘s new track “Justice”.
Based out of Washington State, Emi Veliz, aka Yoko, has slowly but surely blossomed in the scene. She was inspired by the underground bass scene in Denver to start creating her own art and does a perfect job of fusing sci-fi and horror into heavy bass. Yoko’s releases have been nothing short of amazing, from a collaborative EP with Safire, to multiple tracks with the Subciety label, and a wicked collaboration with JABBS released last month via our friends at the DC-based The Gradient Perspective.
“Justice” is a filthy banger that keeps your ears peeled for the entire duration of the track. This tune begins with an intro for the ages, followed by four (yes, four) incredibly wonky drops. Yoko makes sure to keep your ears peeled with the fusion of bass and classic dubstep sounds throughout. She also samples lines from Yasuo, a popular character from League of Legends. The results of all of these elements are amazing, and it left us keeping this tune on repeat all weekend.
This is Yoko’s heaviest track to date. Here’s what she had to say about today’s epic new release from Headbang Society:
“Justice was written for the pure intention of releasing my energy during a time where I felt that I had no outlet. It’s sort of an homage to all the mosh pits I should have been in this past year, so the meaning behind this one is to just be a reminder to have fun and let loose.” – Yoko
Yoko has a serious future ahead of her. If you haven’t checked out her tracks yet, we highly recommend you do so, as she will not disappoint you one bit! Be sure to check out “Justice” below and let us know what your thoughts are in the comments section or on our socials.
