It’s hard to come by someone who consistently creates beautiful, unique, and dark beats combined. A Hundred Drums is that artist. She has multiple amazing releases over the past year and has garnered thousands of fans in the process.
Her talent and drive have propelled her to a very successful career thus far. This past Wednesday, she released her powerful EP “Enough Is Enough”, one that is not only beautiful but emotionally driven as well, through Zeds Dead‘s Deadbeats imprint.
Like many of her tracks, A Hundred Drums takes you on a journey through life. Each track on this EP keeps to the theme of the EP while making sure to tell a separate story. Immediately from the spoken word intro on, the sounds of darkness draw you into a trance like none other, all before some serious basslines are unleashed. These tracks are perfectly mastered to give you a true audio experience. The bone-rattling bass that you have come to know and love is just as present as ever before in her newest work.
But what stands out most about this EP is the true message behind it. A Hundred Drums has used her platform to promote positive change, most notably social justice. A year after George Floyd’s death sparked protests around the world, we have seen a positive call for justice, for the most part, from the dance music community. “Enough Is Enough” helps describes the unjust racism people of color have gone through for centuries in our country, and it’s time for change. Having someone like A Hundred Drums relay that message to the community is incredibly encouraging.
A Hundred Drums continues to leave her stamp on a scene that was created as a safe space for black and queer nightlife. It’s clear she wants to make a change, not just through her music. There’s no doubt in our minds that the future is bright for her, and we cannot wait to see how far she can go in the scene.
