Heard It Here First

Tyler Criso, the bass music wunderkind featured on the stacked roster at Wavecraft Collective, has released the first single off his upcoming EP titled “Foolery.” Formerly known as TYLR, the new moniker for his project is Criso, and will focus on 140 dubstep and DnB. “Foolery” lands in the former category, and we can’t wait for you all to hear the rest of his inaugural EP. With this single, he writes a new chapter that serves as a great start to the next phase of his artistry.

“Foolery” is a strong start out of the gate for Criso, with relentless basslines and off-the-charts danceability. The intro starts off with a strong atmospheric vibe that the producer is known for, a single piano key, and droning background elements setting a dark tone. Bass elements are teased perfectly, building tension toward the end of the section. The first chorus hits you right in the face with punchy, grooving drums with a nice whip effect and interesting percussion keeping the flow strong throughout. The thick, wobbling bass is a gut punch. Simple enough to avoid being a distraction from the groove but fat enough to blow your socks off, this bassline is KILLER. The midsection brings it back down in preparation for an explosive second chorus. The bassline wobble is nice and slow this time and will have you nodding along on headphones or losing your mind on the dance floor.

“Foolery”  from Criso is a masterclass in keeping things tastefully simple. That’s not to say the record is underproduced, far from it, but rather that he knows when enough is enough. He knows how to craft a danceable record with all the frills necessary to keep things spicy, but without any element distracting from the experience. We’ve been lucky enough to hear the EP already, and can’t wait for you all to hear it when it’s out! Keep an eye on the blog for coverage when it releases.
