Josh Teed and Shanghai Doom have teamed up to deliver a colossal new single dubbed “Ancient Illusions.” This collaboration is one of the featured singles from Josh’s forthcoming Recurring Dreams album, out December 2nd on Gravitas Recordings. In conjunction with the release of this massive work, Josh is getting ready to embark on a massive tour in 2023. There is no slowing down for this man, who in 2022 had a plethora of festival plays including The Untz Festival, Yonderville, Gem & Jam, and many more.
Shanghai Doom has also been on the grind, releasing countless tunes this year including a recent flip of FredAgain…‘s track “Turn on the Lights Again…” and prestigious bookings at Bass Canyon, Wakaan Fest and opening for Protohype on tour. This marks their first collaboration with Josh Teed and based on this track, we can’t wait for more in the future!
The song begins with a slow, ominous jingle as the pulsating bass begins to infiltrate the track. It divulges into a distortion-ridden tangential realm, with synths handling the treble as the bass resonates from underneath. The echo of Josh Teed’s signature violin can be heard during the breakdown combined with his organic influences, as Shanghai Doom’s wonky bass meld seamlessly through this massive work. It is a killer peak into what is sure to be a fantastic album from Josh Teed!
