Detroit is a longtime hub for electronic music, as the birthplace of techno hosts countless electronic music shows of all subgenres. One of the metro area’s premiere bass music promoters is Further Frequencies who has put together an outstanding lineup for attendees during the weekend before Christmas. Two of Denver’s premier up-and-coming talents Thought Process and Chmura are set to headline this Saturday, December 17th, at the Tangent Gallery along with support from Detroit native Lster, and fans are in for a night of thumping bass from start to finish.
Thought Process burst onto the scene in 2018 as a part of the all:Lo compilation vol. 1. His beats range from minimal and meditative to uptempo UK glitch hop with fervent basslines. His most recent track “Study Hall” with pheel. and Brotha Nature is a downtempo trap gem. His set is certain to be a journey across the bass music spectrum.
Chmura is one of my favorite producers currently. His 2021 EP Divergence on Wormhole Music catapulted him to nationwide recognition and some hefty bookings in 2022 including Sound Haven. It’s easy for one’s mind to wander through his lush beats, divine textures, and crisp basslines. His halftime beats are perfect for intimate club settings.
The Tangent Gallery has become one of Detroit’s premiere locations for underground bass music. In the past year alone, the venue has hosted touring acts such as VCTRE, Minnesota, The Glitch Mob, and many more. The building itself showcases an eclectic collection of art and hosts numerous vendors at each of their events. Furthermore, the venue is the home for the renowned Bass Boss sound system which made an appearance at Big Fam over the summer.
Thought Process and Chmura’s takeover of the Tangent Gallery is sure an unbelievable night of bass music. Be sure to follow Further Frequencies and be on the lookout some amazing shows on the horizon in 2023!
