Denver-based music label, MorFlo, has been stunning listeners since its emergence in the underground scene. From events to releases, they’ve always shined a light on the brightest and most forward-thinking talent in the world of bass music. There’s something unique about a platform like MorFlo, where you can feel that it’s really all about the art, and giving creators an immense space to share their work with the world.
The collective ended March on a proper note, doing what they do best, putting on artists with the sounds that deserve to be heard. Slow Down Vol. 1 is the first in a two-part release, consisting of downtempo, whimsical tunes, with a mix of energetic heaters. Vol. 1 is a seventeen-track collection of some of the most brilliant and unique producers, each putting their talents on display for our listening pleasure.
Slow Down is the perfect audio journey and reflection of the wide variety of talent in the bass music scene right now. Artists like Sharlitz Web and VEIL, Notixx, Super Future, Lowcation, Kyral X Banko, Ujuu and RYNS, Yoko, and so many others brought a unique and versatile feel to the compilation. Whether it be heavier tunes like “Naughty Little Monsta” from VEIL and Sharlitz Web or Lowcation with a gooey “Sensory” pleasing melody, everyone brought the heat.
There are also tracks like “Bad Guy” from Hullabalo0, a squashy, brain-twisting, beautifully distorted track, and illohwith a bouncy, smooth tune titled “Intero.” ESCPE and Gladkill get emotional with “Ancient,” and Mindex melts the blues away on “It is Almost Fall.”
To sum it up, Slow Down is the perfect way to kick off spring and put a cold winter behind us. It’s also a nice peak into what’s to come this year with such a talented and flourishing music scene. If you liked what you heard in Vol. 1, make sure to stay up to date with MorFlo for the forthcoming Throw Down compilation.
For now, you can stream Slow Down on your preferred music platform, and let us know what tracks you’re digging in the comments!
