5 Drum & Bass Songs You Should Be Listening To — June 2023

We’re back with our monthly drum & bass round-up for June and wow, we had some epic releases from some legendary names. Acts that have inspired the next wave of drum & bass artists reminded all of us why they are leaders in this field with bangers, healing anthems, and everything in between. Check out our top five tracks from June below and let us know which is your favorite!

1. DNMO & Wolfy Lights – Bombalaya

One of Deadbeats’ finest has been on quite the tear over the last couple of years with some amazing drum & bass releases. UK-based DNMO teamed up with Wolfy Lights this month for “Bombalaya”, an entrancing single that is sure to fire up any dance floor and is out now through the renowned UKF imprint. This is actually DNMO and Wolfy Lights’ second collab in 2023 – their first collab was an emotional banger titled “Blinded”, which dropped on Monstercat earlier this spring. For those looking to explore some more DNMO DnB, check out his four-track Speed of Light EP that dropped on Deadbeats last fall as well as the plethora of catchy singles that have come out this year.

2. Capshun & Floret Loret – Azalea

Two names that we have enjoyed covering here on the blog have joined forces for an insane drum & bass collab. Capshun and Floret Loret released “Azalea” today as part of Slow Roast Records’ US DNB Compilation Vol. 1. Both artists have been putting out some incredible tunes over the last several years, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sound, in what can be categorized as “genre-less”. Their styles and signature sounds blend perfectly on this collab, it is truly a match made in *heavy*. Be sure to check out the rest of the compilation on the DJ Craze-run label, featuring tracks from promising U.S.-based names like CLB, Replicant and Des McMahon.

3. Mefjus – Stay (feat. Blocksberg)

When it comes to heart-stopping bangers, look no further than Linz, Austria-based Mefjus. This month, Mefjus released yet another thrilling track in “Stay” featuring Blocksberg. It came out on MODUS, a label started by Mefjus and legendary Austrian duo Camo & Krooked in April of last year. Having released epic collaborations over the years on labels such as UKF, Hospital Records, and Vision Recordings, MODUS will be the home for all Mefjus and Camo & Krooked material moving forward, including their work as stand-alone acts. Mefjus has carved a signature sound that has been felt across the entire spectrum of drum & bass since he emerged in the early 2010s. While primarily operating in drum & bass, Mefjus is also known for his unbelievably catchy halftime remix of Ivy Lab’s “Sunday Crunk”, which became a staple in sets worldwide.

4. Halogenix – Satisfy My Soul (feat. Liam Bailey)

Speaking of legends running their own labels, Halogenix makes his return to our monthly drum & bass roundup with yet another soul-cleansing anthem in “Satisfy My Soul” featuring vocals from Liam Bailey. This track is the latest on Halogenix’s Gemini Gemini label, which he started earlier this year with the release of his four-track Lost Friends EP. Throughout 2023, Halogenix has given us both soulful drum & bass hits as well as some boundary-pushing dubstep anthems in “Bliss” and “PFTD”  with one of our favorites, Strategy. Outside of Gemini Gemini releases, Halogenix has also given fans a couple of beautiful bootlegs, including “Rolling Stone” by Brent Faiyaz as well as “Dancing With The Devil” by Babyface Ray, Landstrip Chip and Pusha T.

5. Metrik – Fall To The Dust

Rounding out this month’s Top 5 is London-based Metrik, one of drum & bass’ top producers that has been releasing timeless hits since 2007. This month, the iconic artist released “Fall To The Dust” on Hospital Records, one of our favorite labels representing the genre. This anthem has been played out in sets all over the world, always heating up dance floors whenever it is dropped. Metrik has given us some amazing tunes over the years – if you want to explore his extensive catalog, we recommend starting with his incredible album Ex Machina, which came out in 2020 on Hospital Records.
