Denver-based electro-soul bass music producer/DJ, Mocha, is making waves in the scene with his soulful yet futuristic funk style. Gaining inspiration from artists like GRiZ, Gramatik, Big Gigantic, and Pretty Lights, Mocha seamlessly blends the groovy essence of early funk records with the contemporary sound design of modern bass music.
Mocha’s musical journey began from his father’s extensive record collection ranging from Motown and classic rock to soul. Gaining inspiration from his dad early on, Mocha picked up guitar playing in cover bands during his youth and college years. This not only solidified his love for performing but also expanded his knowledge of music theory.
Wanting to explore the different realms of music, Mocha began his electronic music production in 2019 quickly gaining recognition for his unique sound. His recent two-track bass EP, ‘Sonic Submersion,’ released under the Sublords label, sparked conversations within the bass music community, establishing Mocha as a rising star.
Earlier this year, he took the stage at VYBE Arts and Music Festival, marking his inaugural appearance at a three-day music extravaganza in Colorado. Mocha has also set the stage for opening acts with Comisar and Waxcat at the Denver staple venue Your Mom’s House.
His new single, “Shine Bright,” serves as a testament to Mocha’s dedication to infusing funk and soul into bass music. This track will be sure to bring you on a musical journey as it begins with notable Electro/Funk elements followed by deep bass and guitar. The lyrics “You shine like the sun” capture the essence of the track flawlessly, seamlessly tying together its overall atmosphere and vibe.
