If you’re looking to dive deeper into your psyche, look no further than the newest album release from illanthropy, cleverly titled Interoception. This ten-track LP is a journey through the heart, mind and soul. Interoception is the newest album release for Stephen Blasy since 2021, the mastermind behind the illanthropy project. The experimental bass producer has taken the time to refocus on his sound and purpose for making music, and it’s not hard to see that he’s poured a lot of energy into making this album a masterpiece. illanthropy has collaborated with names such as Ravenscoon, Bromosapien, and Scales, and we truly think the sky is the limit for what illanthropy will accomplish!
“Alive Man Walking” kicks things off for us with a melodic bass tune that strikes your core instantly. This song sits nicely at 140 bpm to give you a sensory experience like none other. The track starts off nice and easy and then drops into a harmonious bass that itches your brain just right. This song is the perfect opening to the album as it walks you into the next track, “Clueless,” effortlessly.
“Clueless” is a deeper track that goes crazy with wonky sounds and a build-up to a faster tempo. “Clueless” unleashes into a wobbly bass with a looping vocal sample that’s gonna have you wanting to go crazy with your friends whenever you hear it play out. There’s a certain ominous feeling of mayhem and chaos that comes with this banger.
“Into the Aura” showcases the classic illanthropy sound we have gotten to know and love over the years. The track starts off slowly before it breaks into nasty, grimy bass that reverberates nicely and makes you feel like you could float off into another dimension. This song has many layers to it and it feels like it dives deeper and deeper into your subconscious, flaunting an emotional calling to go within.
As we continue on our sonic journey, we come to the track “Serenity,” a masterpiece that encapsulates the feelings we all hope to experience – finding ethereal peace within ourselves. Through the otherworldly deep bass, this track elicits emotions that maybe everything will turn out just the way it should. It’s soothing, and calming, and is the perfect tune to throw on to elevate your mood.
Interoception is truly a piece of art that encourages you to get in touch with yourself sensually, emotionally, and physically. This is music created to help listeners get to know themselves on a deeper level, and have some fun while you do it, of course! Whether you want to turn Interoception on and chill or play it for your friends before a night out, this album has something for everyone.
