Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, RIOT invites listeners on a voyage through wreckage and rebirth of sound on their latest release, “Try Again” as a part of their upcoming sophomore album. Through the legendary Gud Vibrations label, RIOT crafts an electrifying auditory storm, where nostalgic melodies flicker like dying embers before erupting into a tidal wave of raw, trapped-out bass.

The track is a bold statement of resilience and reinvention, weaving cinematic build-up with gut-punching drops that showcase the duo’s evolving sound. Drawing from their deep roots in dubstep and trap bass, Tom Davidson and Daniel Magid deliver yet another high-voltage anthem destined to ignite festival stages and playlists alike. It’s RIOT at their most dynamic, explosive, and unafraid to tear down and rebuild the rules of bass music from the ground up.

“Try Again” marks RIOT’s third release this year through NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s Gud Vibrations record label. Their previous releases “Everynight” and “Back To Back” quickly climbed in streaming numbers, with “Back To Back” reaching the half-million stream marker within a few months of its release. This should be no surprise for fans acquainted with RIOT’s discography. Back in 2019, RIOT kicked in the doors to the electronic music scene with their debut album Dogma Resistance which accumulated over 85 million streams and climbing. Since their inception into the world of electronic dance music, the powerhouse pairs’ insatiable soundplay has garnered collaborations with industry heavy-hitters such as KAYZO, SLANDER, Dirtyphonics, NGHTMRE, and Blanke. With three releases down, an album on the way, and upcoming performances at this year’s Shambhala and Dancefestopia, 2025 is shaping up to be an epic saga in the book of RIOT.

Try Again’ is more than just a song—it’s a bold step into the unknown. This track marks the next chapter in our journey. With every note, we’re pushing boundaries, challenging the system, and reminding ourselves that no matter how many times we fall, we’ll always rise to try again.” -RIOT

“Try Again” burns bright from beginning to end, highlighting RIOT’s unflinching resolve when fusing sound profiles while still holding true to its foundation. “Try Again” predominantly maintains its timeless yet electric trap-bass sonic tone, manipulating vintage rap vocalization supported by fiery low-end sub-bass and unrelenting synths to ground the overall soundscape. As we dig deeper into the track past the initial crescendo, the auditory rug repeatedly gets pulled from under our feet as RIOT switches tempos to a soothing melodious harmon,y but not long before the final drop kicks into second gear, unleashing a heart-pounding double-time cadence leading us to the end of “Try Again”

RIOT’s knack for sonic diversity is undeniable, not only on “Try Again” but on their other two prior releases as well. One thing is certain: this upcoming sophomore album will be a pivotal point in RIOT’s trajectory, and we can’t wait to see what new heights it will lead to.
