We had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Jinx, a super talented Florida up and coming producer/DJ. Jinx has opened for some of the biggest names in Dubstep including Zeds Dead, Getter, Marauda, Space Laces and Must Die! She graced the ‘Here’ stage in early March at Okeechobee Music Festival and absolutely demolished it. She also played Lost Lands and Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival in 2019.
There are big things on the horizon for Jinx and we had the chance to ask her a couple questions about how she’s handling her quarantine and what she’s got on tap for the rest of the year.
Check out our brand new interview and guest mix from this extremely promising talent below! Also, peep her most recent slapper of a release, “Give Me All”, here.
H: How are you keeping busy/staying sane during the Quarantine?
J: Well it’s definitely a variety of things. A lot of the time I was working on ways to improve my production skills that will help me think outside of the box and better my music. I have also been doing a lot of at-home workouts or ill pick up my hoop and flow outside to get some fresh air.
H: What/When was your introduction to the rave life?
J: It was in 2013 when my friends and I didn’t really know EDM well and it happened to be an Adventure Club show, I ended up falling in love with the music and continuously would do whatever I could to be at the next show coming up in my area.
H: Give us some of your thoughts on Okeechobee Festival, you got to play one of the only festivals of the whole year!
J: You mean Okeechobe-BAE! Honestly is one of my favorite festivals of all time. I was an Okee OG and I went every single year since, and to be able to come back to the reopening and play the brand new “Here” stage was such a blessing and I can’t thank Insomniac and Bassrush for that opportunity.
H: Who are you listening to right now? Who are some of your favorite fellow up and coming producers?
J: I listen to a wide variety of people! Id say as far as like hip hop vibey stuff up and coming – Kevin Flum, Apollo Vega, Vampree, Lil twinn and missy coke. As far as edm up and coming Acraze, Blvck Sheep, Ruvlo, Jeanie, PLSMA, Rated R, Kumarion, Floret Loret, Hallucinate, and so many more. It is hard to choose when there’s so much good music out there.
H: Who are some of your influences? Obviously, it doesn’t have to be DJs/producers for this one.
J: My biggest influences would have to be Dion Timmer, Excision, Hekler, Gladez, my friends.
H: Who did you grow up listening to?
J: A lot of Usher, Kelly Rowland, Nelly type stuff to be honest! I also was huge into pop rock! I loved Mayday Parade, Sleeping with Sirens etc.
H: What’s on tap for the rest of 2020?
J: Getting through this quarantine, cranking out tunes, and getting ready for what’s to come when civilization returns.
H: Any cool upcoming collabs you can tell us about?
J: I actually have a few cool ones im working on right now with some of my girlies Jeanie, Kleopatra, and Com3t!
H: What’s one thing that if someone didn’t ask, they wouldn’t know about you? Like a random or fun hobby?
J: That I’m a HUGE Star Wars nerd, and that I’m a hooper!
H: Are there any fun or good Netflix/Hulu/Amazon shows that you’ve been watching over quarantine?
J: I started and finished Game of Thrones. I’m super obsessed with Outer Banks!
H: Last question — What is one message you want to share with all your fans?
J: I love you guys, and the future is going to be sick when we get through this. Also, drink lots of water!
