New Zeland-based producer Lauren Gin is back after the release of her debut EP “Supernova” in 2020 to deliver more femme fetal future bass. 2021 is Lauren’s fifth year as a DJ and only her second year making music — a fact that would be impossible to tell based on her both massive and equally nuanced sound. She is passionate about her trap and future bass roots and has gained traction following playing festivals such Rhythm & Vines, Splore, Bay Dreams, Soundsplash, and Electric Avenue. Currently, she has only traveled internationally to play in LA, Bali, and Portland, but with releases like this we hope to see more of her around the states very soon!
If her masterful production wasn’t enough, by day Lauren is an active advocate for women both in and outside the music industry. She works tirelessly for Icehouse Ventures, a prominent venture capitalist firm in NZ, personally generating funds that actively invest in female founders. What could be better than a female producer supporting women both on and off the field?!
In her own words, Lauren describes “Say No” as “Constant movement of melodic sounds that add depth with a euphoric flavour”, a characterization that is right on the money. This track features arid and inspiring vocals complimented by a driving future bass melody. The song builds off of the vocal line into uplifting synths and trap-inspired beats. Deep bass and intricate arpeggios fill out the track and really elevate it to the next level. It is a well-rounded tune that is sure to be the feature of festival sets to come!
Be sure to check out all of Lauren’s music in the links below; she has a massive mix that is a well-composed booty-shaking masterpiece perfectly suited for those end-of-summer kickbacks. Listen to it here!
