SoDown is a renowned bass music producer who has become well-known for seamlessly merging funky fresh Saxophone with filthy electronic beats. Today, he returns to the spotlight after the success of his full-length 2021 compilation album, Alive.
He’s worked with some of the hottest names in that fusion funk/EDM world, ranging from Manic Focus to Meghan Hamilton to Daily Bread to Break Science. He’s also collabed with more experimental bass producers like Liquid Stranger, Kyral x Banko, and Homemade Spaceship. Now, he’s back. SoDown is gracing his quickly growing fanbase with the Get Up EP, out now through the producer’s own GetDown record label.
The three-track project leads off with SoDown’s most recent single, serving as the title track to the EP, with past collaborator DeFunk providing an extra dose of bass to their wicked collaborative concoction.
Following that is “Badboi Sound.” This tune starts with the perfect mix of reggae and dub stylings, leading into a colossal breakdown into dubstep madness laced with sax-y melodies. Lastly, we’ve got “Serious Dub.” This final track starts in a similar fashion to its predecessor, but this time with horns as the lead. Brutal, crunchy wubs propel into the listener’s ears, making this one an absolute must-add to headbanger’s playlists around the world. SoDown truly cooked up three funky fresh tunas on this new EP!
Tonight, SoDown joins Boogie T‘s Red Rocks show alongside Minnesota and Khiva. This will be his first time returning to the legendary amphitheater since his debut performance at the venue as Pretty Lights’ opener.
