Meduso is one of the hottest rising names in bass music, bursting forth from the underground with a sonic flare. He blends elements of classic dubstep with new-school sound design ingenuity. We had him on board for a HIHF guest mix in 2021 and as a part of our inaugural Cabin Fever Festival livestream in 2020, our fundraiser for The Innocence Project.

His new single, “Turn Up The Bass,” perfectly encapsulates what has made the Meduso project great and teases the fantastic ideas to come, featuring tension-building risers, devastating percussion, and some of the most complex bass patches I have ever heard. We’ve also got a massive playlist takeover from Meduso himself you can check out down below.

Meduso garnered serious attention for his audiovisual project following the release of his debut LP Yugen in 2020. A late addition to the 2021 Sound Haven Music Festival lineup and a run of massive shows with Illenium has brought even more well-deserved recognition for the up-and-coming artist. He finally released his highly-anticipated bootleg of “Chop Suey!” by System Of A Down in 2022 and ushered in a new era for the project. His bootleg retained many of the track’s heavy metal elements before giving way to his signature bass sound. Little did fans know this would become more prevalent in Meduso’s music going forward.

An Evolving Sound

“Turn Up The Bass” begins with a thunderous guitar melody. Between this track and his “Chop Suey” bootleg, Meduso is employing more rock and metal elements in his sound and we are HERE FOR IT!

The track quickly builds anticipation before a signature Meduso bassline takes over. Rather than relying on a bevy of bass synths, Meduso employs sustained complex bass patches that utilize a flowing melody to give his tracks incredible depth. “Turn Up The Bass” hits that sweet spot at the intersection of frenetic halftime energy and heavy bass. This track is set to demolish festival crowds all summer long and beyond.

Does “Turn Up The Bass” make you rock out? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to peep his exclusive HIHF playlist takeover to see what the booming up and comer is listening to! Here’s what he had to say:

“This playlist serves as a mood board for the single and gives you insight to my inspirations as an artist. Hope you all enjoy!” – Meduso
