Moonrise Festival, Baltimore’s go-to EDM festival for years, has officially been given a makeover by the Insomniac Events family. This year, the lineup is rather dubstep heavy, which we certainly have zero complaints about. Following the success of Insomniac’s house-focused Project Glow festival, held at D.C.’s RFK Stadium, we are ecstatic the DMV is getting a hefty dose of bass with Moonrise’s 2022 lineup.

Whether you are a rookie headbanger or a self-proclaimed dubstep aficionado, we’ve got plenty of acts bass lovers will be enthralled with on our schedule for the 2022 edition of Moonrise. Check out the daily lineups that just dropped below! Which day do you think is more stacked?

Without further ado, here is HIHF’s top ten must-see dubstep sets from this year’s lineup:

If you can’t make it to Lost Lands or Bass Canyon this summer, don’t fret! Excision is returning to Moonrise Festival, presumably with a headlining slot. After his massive Onyx album from January, you don’t want to miss this robot and dinosaur-fueled performance. Step into the video-game campaign that is an Excision set with us, because we need a dinosaur shooting laser beams at us while throwing our X’s up with a crowd full of headbangers ASAP!

This will be Excision’s 5th time playing Moonrise Festival!

Liquid Stranger

When the Wakaan labelhead, Liquid Stranger, is playing a festival, you simply don’t miss it! Expect the space boss to be throwing down trippy bangers from his recent Balance LP as well as recent contributions to his Wakaan label from the likes of Shlump, Luzcid, Wreckno, Hydraulix, Redrum, Sully, Kyral x Banko, MPort, Drinkurwater, and tons more!

This will be Liquid Stranger’s 2nd time playing at Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: The Stranger Stream

Subtronics has been on FIRE, quickly becoming one of the biggest names in modern dubstep in a relatively short period of time. He’s played recent b2bs with huge names like SLANDER and Zeds Dead, and even came out as a special guest on stage with Deadmau5 and Kaskade to premiere his new remix for them at EDC Las Vegas. After his insane Fractals album dropped earlier in 2022, you don’t want to miss an opportunity to see the Cyclops Army in action.

This will be Subtronics’ 2nd time playing Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: Now That’s What I Call Riddim Vol. 5

Jantsen b2b SubDocta

When these two team up, they bring both of their wobbly dubstep stylings together for an absolute collision course! Jantsen and SubDocta are known for their filthy, wub-fueled dubstep sounds, and watching them go b2b will certainly be a headbanger’s dream for Moonrise festival.

This will be both Jantsen and SubDocta 1st time playing Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: Gutter Music 5 (Jantsen), Electric Hawk Harmony Set (SubDocta)

Rezz is bringing her hypnotizing, pulsating midtempo bass to the main stage with her 2022 Moonrise performance. “Space Mom,” as dubbed by her fan army, The Cult of Rezz, is known to leave festival-goers in shambles with their jaws on the floor and their mind shattered to pieces. DO NOT miss this set!

This will be REZZ’s 3rd time playing Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: EDC Las Vegas 2022 Performance

Zingara is a relatively new act on the dubstep scene, but she’s become a force to be reckoned with extremely quickly. She opened up for Subtronics at Red Rocks, has been booked for other huge fests like Firefly and Hulaween, and even was selected as one of ten winners of Excision’s bass music grant. We hosted her for a HIHF guest mix in late 2021 and it’s one of our best-performing mixes to date!

This will be both Zingara’s 1st time playing Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: HIHF Guest Mix Vol. 59

Kompany b2b Calcium

Two of the hottest names in modern dubstep are Kompany and Calcium. Both of these acts consistently crank out bangers, mostly coming through esteemed dubstep labels and distrubtors like Never Say Die or Disciple, and some of their works have been the most frequently played tracks at events like EDC Las Vegas, Lost Lands, and Bass Canyon.

This will be both Kompany and Calcium’s 2nd time playing Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: Virtual Portal Set (Kompany), Park N’ Rave Set (Calcium)

Moore Kismet

Moore Kismet is a seventeen-year-old electronic music phenom! The young up-and-comer has seen support from all across the industry and even hinted at having a Skrillex collaboration in the works. Each time we’ve caught a Moore Kismet set, we’ve been blown away. With this one following their debut album, this performance is CAN’T-MISS!

This will be Moore Kismet’s 1st time playing Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: NightMode Insomniac Takeover Stream (2020)

Mersiv has been a force to be reckoned with in the experimental bass community. Working closely alongside some of the most promising rising stars in bass music, like Smoakland, SuperAve, and Fryar, Mersiv is continuing his dominance and bringing along some serious talents with him. After his Pretty, Dark, Loud album release, as well as touring with Liquid Stranger on his Balance tour, Mersiv has a ton of heat in his artillery, certain to provide an all-out onslaught of filthy bass music this summer at Moonrise.

This will be Mersiv’s 1st time playing at Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: Sound Haven 2021 (Slow Down Mix)

SVDDEN DEATH: Into The Inferno

SVDDEN DEATH shows are well-known to be showstoppers. Whether it’s him breathing fire or floating mid-air, SVDDEN DEATH does not disappoint. After the uber-successful VOYD II from earlier this year and how big his fanbase is growing, this could pan out to be one of the craziest sets of the festival. I’m honestly not sure what an “Into The Inferno” set entails and whether or not it’s similar to his all-original, all-VIP edit VOYD sets, but one can only hope!

This will be SVDDEN DEATH’s 2nd time playing at Moonrise Festival!

Mix/Set to Prepare: Red Rocks 2021 Performance
