Street Ritualis undoubtedly one of the dopest bass labels pushing the music of the elite names in the freeform experimental bass music world. It has been home to an extensive roster of forward-thinking producers like Bukez Finezt, Chef Boyarbeatz, Kursa, Pushloop, and Ternion Sound. Street Ritual has had a jam-packed year filled with fire releases. The newest ‘spicy’ release to grace their label is the JAWN EP featuring two artfully crafted collaborations between Spicy Bois label head MeSo and one of Spicy Bois’ favorite featured artists, SAGZ.
These two musical masterminds are known for fabricating severe high-octane gas when paired together. With an arsenal of in-your-face collabs like “TRAPHOUSE” and “Do It Like,” their creativity knows no bounds.
Right off the bat, theEP takes off with “JAWN,” featuring a gritty and grungey bassline followed by layers of kicks and snares. It gives off trappy vibes but throws you for a loop as it propels listeners into a frenzy, diverging into something entirely new. Just as you think the track is coming to a close, it maneuvers into another realm beyond comprehension with its choppy breaks and tempo switch-ups.
“Roll Call” keeps up with the theme of edge-of-your-seat excitement. This one dives into a deep dub approach delivering that dark energy while still incorporating a wild influx of synths we can expect from these two producers. The reverberating bass is the chef’s kiss if you have a set of high-quality headphones or monitors. Common side effects include but are not limited to induced face-melting, scrambled brains, and involuntary body movement.
This release is a beautiful addition to the Street Ritual discography with the Spicy Bois flair written all over it. The outcome is sheer brilliance as it exhibits each artist’s creative mind and vast knowledge of sound design. MeSo and SAGZ had us head over heels with JAWN EP, and we’ve now left craving more.
