Hekler is a well-known name within the world of dubstep. He’s contributed massive hits over the years, tracks like “404” and “Buggas,” that have demolished mainstages at festivals across the world. He’s collaborated with some of the hottest names in the genre, ranging from Marauda to Borgore to YOOKiE to Calcium. Today, he’s bringing his fans his long-awaited debut album. ABYSS is finally here, out now through Bassrush.

Last week, the talented producer threw a listening party and meet-up for his fans to check out his debut LP a few days early. We love seeing artists give back to their fanbase in ways like this, what a way to celebrate the new album!

Let’s enter the ABYSS together, as Hekler starts the journey off with distorted vocals leading us down into the darkness. The title track, “ABYSS” shows off Hekler’s production prowess, starting things off hot with this hybrid trap banger. Following that are the album’s two singles, “BLACKED OUT” and “TILL I DIE” featuring Glenwwood! and Kanin. You can check out our previous coverage of “TILL I DIE” here.

“BANK” is a disgusting track features the rambunxious bars of rapper/vocalist Sam King, well known for collaborations with the likes of Excision and Black Tiger Sex Machine. “IN MY BAG” featuring Frankie Sinn is another hip-hop/bass fusion that is sure to be a festival-favorite, employing that brutal hybrid trap Hekler has become well-known for.

“DUMB!” states the obvious. Simply put, Hekler’s shit does go dumb. This new heater employs filthy bass stabs and a brutal, wolloping drop. On the track’s final offering, “WHIPLASH” featuring Dnd Roxy, Hekler ends things off with a serious bang. This one might go hardest of everything off ABYSS and we can’t wait to add it to our headbanging playlist.

Here’s what Hekler had to say about his debut album:

“I’ve gone through so many obstacles to finally get to this point and honestly writing this message to you all is showing me that no matter what happens in life, if you stick to your vision and have the right people around you, anything is possible. I’m so excited to finally share this part of me with you all. It’s finally time to let it free.” – Hekler

ABYSS shows off both Hekler’s hip-hop-driven production chops as well as his heavy bass stylings, putting both on full display throughout the LP. We can’t wait to see what’s next for this rising star artist and you can be sure we will be covering whatever that might be.
