The days of the hot summer sun have officially concluded. As the autumn chill enters the air, High Zombie and Frantik’s newest collaborative effort, “Yanker,” reminds us that the heat never stops in the world of electronic music. Through Bassweight Records, these two up-and-coming phenoms pull out all the stops in constructing this certified anthem, guaranteeing its placement on your next playlist of bangers.
Since entering the scene in 2020 with his official remix of Dirtyphonics’ “No Mercy” on Disciple Records, Frantik has spent the years since curating his original sound, and it is undeniable that hard work is paying off. The Northern California artist’s destructive musical capability allowed him to check off a Lost Lands performance early in his career as well as contributing bone-rattling releases to elite labels including Borgore’s Buygore Records, Liquid Stranger’s WAAKAN, and Excision’s Subsidia Records. Prepare to catch a Frantik show in a city near you as he climbs higher and higher up the industry ladder with each brutal release.
High Zombie’s ever-expanding musical catalog is nothing short of impressive. Each release highlights his production versatility, tapping into any sub-genre with surgical precision. Despite consistently challenging himself with genre-defying tracks, High Zombie has made the realms of boundary-pushing dubstep his home base. After making a ruckus at Lost Lands this year, High Zombie gears up for Paradise Blue, Excision’s curated festival in Cancun.
“Yanker” marks High Zombie and Frantik’s third collaborative track. Their experience working together crafting masterfully diabolical pieces shines bright as they effortlessly weave this dynamic single together. “Yanker” opens with effervescent vocals echoing “I’ve got the power” over a propulsive bass house beat.
As “Yanker” proceeds toward its initial climax, an array of foreign sounds are brought into play. Gurgling bass accompanies the lyrical switch-up as the bassline crumples into the heart-pounding first crescendo.
