Ivy Lab returns to bring fans new EP ‘Double Blind,’ released through Zeds Dead‘s label Deadbeats. This British bass music duo has been hotter than a bottle of Nando’s hot sauce lately, with an iconic performance at Coachella Weekend 2, and set to perform at Lightning in a Bottle, Beyond Wonderland at the Gorge, and supporting Flume on his upcoming tour.
Last year, Ivy Lab released an EP with Dirtybird Records titled ‘Press Play‘ that garnered a host of positive attention, with an encore set at Dirtybird Campout to round it out.
This most recent work takes fans down a wonderous journey, with influences from their early catalog to newer sounds. Here’s what they had to say about it:
“First up we have ‘Double Blind’ which at its core is this smashed, high energy skate-park anthem. It’s brash & playful – muscle car music you could say. Genuinely nothing like anything we’ve ever made before”
“Fans of our more uptempo early catalog will find a lot of familiarity in ‘Melrose.’ Birthed in the rotten-apple & dripping in Avirex; It’s a cocky millennial rap beat upgraded to knock hard on festival bass-bins.”
“Finally is SVCAR, a drifting minimalist creation, staged to be hypnotic and unsettling in its darkness. Probably the closest to some of our recent work. It’s teetering on over-serious whilst still trying to pull a smile outta the listener” – Ivy Lab
Sure to cement itself amongst their already impressive discography, ‘Double Blind’ starts off with the title track of the same name. This song features artistically edited vocals and a crisp drumline. It has an easy rock and groove to it that feeds into the next track, “Melrose“. This one continues on the same lick, taking listeners along the ebb and flow of the infectious beat. “Svcar” wraps things up on a laid-back but firey melody, with an underlying ominous tone that leaves listeners begging for more.
The boys released an awesome visualizer created by Lake Hills to go along with the release, you can check it out here!
