The ever-illusive REAPER has teamed up with drum and bass prodigy Kumarion on a new track titled The Uprising,” released through the infamous label, Jadū Dala.

The masked producer and DJ, REAPER, has been busy in recent years developing a sinister jump-up-inspired sound. This hard-hitting and high-energy style has been making waves, leading to collaborations with Slang Dogs, HELLBOUND, and more. REAPER has previously locked in slots at major festivals such as Lost Lands, EDC, and Nocturnal Wonderland where he thrilled fans with his bone-shattering beats and mysterious air. He has also infiltrated the airwaves with his successful Insomniac Radio show titled “The Pulse,” with multiple high-profile guests and a special episode for EDCLV.

Kumarion is coming fresh off his debut with Bassrush records. He has been one of the most effective proponents of American drum and bass over recent years, and has managed to gain a substantial following in the wake. His most viral success came with the release of Want It through none other than Jadū Dala in 2020, and has since been remixed by Smoakland, Secret Recipe, Xotix, and more. Since then, Kumarion has been named by Billboard as an artist to watch in 2022 and has landed slots at big festivals such as Okeechobee, Buku, and ILLfest. He has also supported multiple huge artists on tours and during special events including Zeds Dead, Dirt Monkey, and Griz. Back in March, HIHF had the opportunity to sit down with Kumarion, you can check that interview out right here!

Kumarion gave us his insights on this new collab with REAPER:

“Reaper and I have been long proponents of drum and bass in the United States, amongst a few others. We’ve aligned together in this collab and the series of shows and events because we both share a common goal: in hopes to show Americans how fun and transformative drum and bass can be. We both want to help kick that door open!” – Kumarion

And then from the other side, Reaper gives his take on the new effort:

“Kumarion and I’s styles share a lot of common ground but I think the styles I gravitate towards leans further to American dubstep / hip hop influence. There’s several parts where you can hear loud, aggressive sounds that I’ve made become dialed into a more graceful sound palette. Kumarion totally knows how to finesse aggressive sounds into sounding warm and huge.” – Reaper

Hip hop influences are braided together with classic dubstep and drum and bass to create a product unique to itself. Pristine sound design is evident throughout the track, with a myriad of sounds seamlessly blending together without overwhelming the listener. It is a beautiful marriage of two talented artists, and we can’t wait to hear more!
