Lightning in a Bottle is a mainstay for festivalgoers and it is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with a top-tier lineup. The festival will be taking place through memorial day weekend, May 24th-29th, at Buena Vista Lake in Southern California. In addition to the stellar lineup at LIB, there will be immersive art experiences, educational classes, and workshops to build a really incredible experience beyond just through great music acts. The whole lineup is incredibly diverse and showcases genres like house, techno, and bass.
The headliners for the 2023 edition of LIB include world-class acts like Rezz, The Glitch Mob, LSDREAM, Tale of Us, ZHU, Sampa the Great, Phantogram, and tons more. We put together a breakdown of some of the acts that you won’t want to miss at the festival this year!
LSDREAM
LSDREAM, who used to go by Brillz, has been a staple of multiple huge festival lineups and has captivated fans with his high-energy, fun, free-form bass music. The artist is extremely versatile and can bring a crowd up to euphoric highs and alternatively bring a calming presence to the stage as well, especially with his ambient Lightcode sets. For his headline set at LIB you can count on him bringing his bass-heavy set to the California festival.
LP Giobbi
This DJ and producer is quickly rising to superstar status, with her upbeat house productions and influences from her jam-band roots. She’s been on other top-tier lineups like Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Lollapalooza, as well. Using her platform, LP Giobbi has been able to help other women in the industry with her label and non-profit Femme House. Her goal with the non-profit is to change the fact that only 2% of producers are women through providing resources and mentorship to those looking to start working on their art.
Hamdi
If you’re a dubstep or grime fan, you’ve probably heard Hamdi’s internationally famous track “Skanka.” The producer has rapidly risen to stardom in the bass music community and is currently on his debut US tour. The artist’s signature infectious bass-lines have earned him support from other well-established acts like Skrillex, Zeds Dead, and dozens more, seeing almost every big name bass artist drop “Skanka” at some point in 2022.
TOKiMONSTA
TOKiMONSTA has been a headlining act for years and she’s an expert storyteller with her unique, melodic sound. “Rouge” and her remix of Disclosure’s “Waterfall” are definitely future classics and she’s even been nominated before at the Grammys, for the award of best electronic album. Her sets are a really well-crafted blend of danceable tracks and more emotional ones, paired with next-level visuals that create a one-of-a-kind experience.
Mersiv
A left-field bass innovator, MorFlo label boss Mersiv has become a top-tier act in bass music over the last few years. He recently curated his own headline event at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, with other heavy hitters in the left-field bass community like Tripp St., Daily Bread,Smoakland, and Sippy. This artist combines heavier bass sounds with lush atmospheres and catchy melodies and has pioneered a new style of bass music because of this.
Beats Antique
Another act to catch at LIB is Beats Antique. This group provides a full experience for fans with their set by combining live instruments with electronic music. Their live set isn’t just a musical act either, they bring costumes, dancers, and a full visual element into their performance that has caught the attention of fans across the country. These artists fuse global sounds with cinematic elements that create an eclectic and exciting sound. It’s definitely a must not miss set at LiB 2023!
Wreckno
Wreckno is a multi-talented act – he raps, DJs, produces, and also gives the queer community a voice in the bass scene. His mind-melting single “Gyrate” with Quackson and Rezz became a hit and reached millions of streams really quickly, and the artist has had tons of other exciting collabs with artists like EAZYBAKED and GRiZ too. Wreckno’s most recent EP, “PANSY,” allowed the artist to reclaim and find power in the hate speech that was once used against him growing up.
Moore Kismet
This young artist is extremely talented, and has built a project and sound that is instantly recognizable to fans at only 17 years old. Another influential voice in the LGBTQ+ community, Moore Kismet brings their authentic playful energy into their music and interaction with fans. They were included on Billboard’s 21 under 21 annual list two years in a row and were the youngest artist to ever perform at EDC Las Vegas and Lollapalooza.
Great Dane
The Los Angeles native and now Brooklyn-based artist is a staple in the bass and trap communities with his powerful low-end style. The producer is really prolific, with a catalog of multiple singles, EPs, and five albums. Great Dane has built up a multifaceted career in music with his collective TeamSupreme, and his label ADBC. Don’t miss his LiB performance!
