SLANDER and San Holo have just released a gorgeously crafted emotional anthem entitled “Broken Hearted.” The track is a melodic dubstep masterpiece that features powerful vocals by Julia Church. “Broken Hearted” takes listeners on a journey that challenges them to hold on tight, during the seemingly insurmountable emotions felt through heartbreak, and to move forward. The track is a spiritual banger that is a must listen.

“Broken Hearted” first gained traction at Starbase, SLANDER’s festival, where the duo debuted the single live with San Holo on stage. They also teased the track during their instant classic B2B with ILLENIUM at EDC Las Vegas. Ever since then, anticipation has been building for the ID release that is finally upon us.

When asked about the inception of “Broken Hearted”, San Holo had this to say:

“SLANDER sent me Julia’s amazing vocals, right when I was going through a breakup. At the time, I was traveling around the world for shows, and I decided to stay in Austin, Texas, for a while to isolate myself. No one goes through life without having their heart broken. This song is a reminder to keep going and hold on even when life brings you down.” – San Holo

SLANDER is a renowned DJ duo composed of Derek Andersen and Scott Land. Hailing from LA, the group has scored a Grammy nomination for a writing credit on ILLENIUM’s album, and also gained the hearts of millions of ravers with their track, “Love Is Gone,” featuring Dylan Matthew. SLANDER is known for their expertise in crafting melodic bass anthems and founded the Heaven Sent label to help spread the sound globally. They’ve collabed with tons of the heaviest hitters as well, like Seven Lions, SVDDEN DEATH, Crankdat, Sullivan King, Excision, and Subtronics. SLANDER has a jam-packed second half of 2025, making festival appearances at Shambhala, Lost Lands, Breakaway: Alabama, and many more. San Holo is a Dutch DJ who has made a name for himself by consistently letting his sonic aptitude shine through in his discography. With musical cues from punk, alt rock, and future bass, San Holo’s compositions are cross-genre sensations. San Holo has recently ventured into riddim while weaving in his signature colorful sound. This new era of San Holo’s music is currently being showcased on his live tour “Wholesome Riddim.” His label bitbird is another home for rising stars in the electronic music world, and has hosted names like Droeloe, Vincent, eyezic, Cloudchord, and dozens more. San Holo is also making a couple of appearances at festivals this year, including Lost In Dreams and Metamorphosis. Julia Church is a musician who has worked with many big-name artists. Her enchanting vocals have been featured on popular tracks like John Summit’s “Go Back” and “Resonate,” Gorgon City’s “A Lot Like Heaven,” as well as Diplo & HUGEL’s “Stay High.” Born in South Africa and currently based in the UK, Julia Child is known for her masterful melding of the indie, pop, and electronic genres. Her captivating vocal performance on “Broken Hearted” are just another example of her lyrical genius and ever-impressive pipes.

“Broken Hearted” is out on SLANDER’s Heaven Sent, a melodic bass label with an emphasis on creating emotionally resonant projects. The label has released many SLANDER tracks, as well as tunes by William Black, STAR SEED, Skybreak, Ian Snow, and Trivecta. 

The collaboration project between SLANDER, San Holo, and Julia Church evokes the feeling of heartbreak, a seemingly impossible yet ubiquitous part of the human experience. “Broken Hearted” can help anyone through those tough times, containing a reassuring message to hold on to the positive parts of life and move forward.
