Everyone has been struggling through the lockdown this past year and a half, but one thing that has kept our heads up throughout is the return of live music. Thanks to collectives like The Gradient Perspective, Para Presents, and Closed Sessions, the D.C, Maryland, and Virginia area (DMV) is getting an onslaught of bass music powerhouses performing shows across the summer and fall season.

First off, this coming Wednesday to be exact, some of the hottest names in the underground bass world are coming to Washington DC’s Club Flash, a nightlife staple in the nation’s capital well-known for its massive Funktion- One sound system. The night’s lineup consists of VCTRE, Vide, Josh Teed, Sol Good, and Wood.Wurks and we’ll certainly be in attendance to catch this absolutely stacked bass music extravaganza. It actually just sold out, so we hope you got tickets in time!

September 8th brings Supertask to Flash, alongside up and comers like Thought Process, St4rfox, Mantra Sounds, and Jack the Giant. Supertask is well known for his soothing and ethereal anthems like “Get To You” and “Healing”. He also just linked up with CharlesTheFirst and potions for their collaborative LAB GROUP EP, which features seven new tracks from the new bass music supergroup.

October 7th brings Maddy O’Neal and Marvel Years‘ joint tour to Flash, alongside some funky fresh support names like Phyphr, TheBuisness. and Father Figure.

Another Gradient Perspective, alongside Depth Perception, show that we are absolutely amped for is actually a week prior to Marvel Years and Maddy O’Neal and is not being held at Flash. It’s bass music goliaths Jantsen and Manic Focus and they are headed to Baltimore Sound Stage on October 1st. As much as we love Flash and partying in the District, you better bet we are headed up to Bmore to hit this massive joint performance by two of the most exciting names in Dubstep. Featuring support from Artifakts and Gradient Perspective head honcho, Jared Oppenheim, better known to the music world as Choppy Oppy.

Here’s what he had to say about the upcoming events over the next couple of months:

“We’re just so glad to be able to join together on the dance floor again. We had started to test the waters with Flash and bass music just before the Pandemic and had some really big things lined up, so when everything came crashing down it was really hard on all of us in the industry and all of the fans. Our focus here is to bring intentionally curated music from start to finish, highlighting some of the best up-and-coming national artists paired with top-tier talent already exploding on the scene. TGP, Para and Closed Sessions want to extend a huge thank you to the DMV scene for the support as well, we’re up against a lot of big players who have tons of resources and it’s truly the support of our friends and community that allow us to continue!” – Choppy Oppy

We hope to see you at a few of these shows if you are based out of the DMV (and even if you aren’t). Big ups to TGP, Para, and Closed Sessions for booking all of these insanely packed bass shows. With the unfortunate loss of the famous DC venue U Street Music Hall over the pandemic, we are so glad to see other organizations and venues stepping up to host some of the nation’s finest bass artists.
